AOL Instructions

If you are using AOL as your Internet Service Provider (ISP), [meaning you connect through AOL], then you are subject to restrictions set by AOL's Parental Controls.

AOL Parental Controls must be set to General in order to use MECA. The General setting removes all restrictions on the AOL connection and allows access to all features and content on AOL and on the World Wide Web. AOL Parental Control settings affect all programs that access the Internet using the AOL connection, such as Netscape, Internet Explorer, or MSN Instant Messenger, and Yahoo Instant Messenger, and is not specific to MECA.

Failure to set your Parental Controls to General will result in a connection error.

If you have a dialup or broadband service provider (Cable Modem/DSL/T1) other than AOL, and simply access AOL through these services, then you are not affected by AOL Parental Controls.
